Why I Love ... Milltown
“I must say, I really do love this area. Originally from Milltown, my family also migrated to East Brunswick and Old Bridge. Even still, I spent so much time here with friends- trick-or-treating, buying summer ice creams at the Milltown Depot, and watching fireworks on the 4th of July. When my husband and I were looking for a place to settle, my first thought was Milltown. We both love the feel of a small town, community pride, and the ability to have the whole town in walking distance. In one short walk I can bring my dog to the groomer, make a deposit at the bank, visit with a friend, grab a sandwich, pick up milk and eggs, and head home on a scenic walkway facing the water. Now that’s priceless. So is the sense of safety. Now I acknowledge that bad things can happen anywhere, even in the nicest of places, but the truth is I feel safe here. Plus, the location is ideal. I get to live in this cute town, but still have excellent access to the shore (without having to rely on the cramped parkway), smaller hubs like New Brunswick, and big cities like NYC. I drive through all the big towns around, shop at the mall, catch a movie and have access to tons of stuff, but in the end I get to come home to my small, charming town. It's like having the charm and friendly feel of a Midwestern town, without having to move to the Midwest.
I also have to say, I love the “look” of the area. Driving through the wooded back roads of East and North Brunswick, looking at the beautiful old architecture throughout Milltown, and all the parks and general upkeep of the area are all so pleasing to the eye. Most importantly, I love the sense of community. When I go for a walk, I can guarantee that almost every person I pass by will meet me with a smile and a great big “Hello.” And nothing says more about a sense of community than its events: The Haunted River Walk, Christmas carriage rides, a million little kids vying for Easter eggs, strolling through the Pride of Milltown Day and, let’s faces it, no one does the 4th of July better. There will always be good and bad about anywhere you live, but I can honestly say that I really do love it here.“ Stephanie, Milltown resident

Why I Love ... North Brunswick
My wife and I were looking for a place far outside New York City to be more in a country environment for our family. We checked out 50+ areas and found the Hidden Lake area of North Brunswick to be the nicest area of homes on cul de sacs and winding roads with a minimal crime rate and amazing upside potential. We have been here a little less then 1 year and could not be happier with the house, immediate area and the surrounding towns like Milltown. We LOVE the Tomato Factory in Milltown, it is the best Chicken Francaise in the history of chicken! Right out on route 1 they have built a huge bunch of new stores (not yet known what but a supermarket would be ideal like TRADER JOE). Then across route 1 you have the old johnson and johnson headquarters. If they do indeed put a train there inside a transit village you will have NYC access in under 35 minutes in a beautiful, new area that will transform the hidden lake/north brunswick area tenfold. This is the link to what should be coming over the coming 3-5 years -http://ourtowncenter.info/. Its a huge reason why we moved here on top of everything else. |
